Well we went again to the cafe 3/4 hour towards Arrecife and had a lovely lunch of baby squids, they were minute.  my garlic albondigas were very garlicky but we managed everything with a couple of copas de rosados.

A couple of faux pas, I suffer from piles and whilst this might be too much information I normally keep the cream in a certain shelf in the bathroom at home but I don't have the luxury of that scenario here and Bill went to clean his teeth yesterday....So he's in the book for that one.

Weather is great now very sunny and warm at 1730 but it's been cloudy most of the day.

I hear it is very cold at home.  Never mind eh ??

Yesterday was a bit of a write off, we both relaxed in the apartment on the balcony all day whilst I read a book.  Had a lovely meal last night in a local restaurant, I had duck with a fruity sauce and bill had an unusual minted lamb dish.  I think the restaurant was Lebanese but it was very good.

Today we are going back to the port we went to on monday,
an industrial area but with local bars with local food and no English people.

It's a bit cooler today as it was very hot yesterday, we couldn't sit outside between 12 and 3pm boil your brains.  Had a phone call yesterday from a mate who wanted some eggs !! (John Chance - hello if you are reading this !!) he told me it was very cold there at home, well, I don't care just right now.

More later.......

Arrecife

We went to Arrecife today by bus very cheap way of getting around.  Lots of really nice bars and restaurants selling good food at reasonable prices.  There's are a lot of apartments here for sale and a lot of shops are closed down, you can see the recession has hit here.  We met Linda yesterday who manages the apartment as she had to arrange a TV technician to fix the TV as we couldn't get any channels, Bill likes to watch news in the mornings !

So it's a bit cloudy today but still warm, I am in reception where I can get a signal unles I drag the iPad to a wifi bar.

Cheap to hire cars here too so we will be looking at that and maybe a tour later on.  Personally I hate coach tours in places like this so may look at something more personal for us.

That's it for now.....

Lovely place - very good choice

Well the journey from Bournemouth to Lanzarote only took 3 and a quarter hours as we had a tail wind of  +100mph up in the air at 35000 ft.  I was a little concerned as I'd booked our transfer at 1745 so as we left at 1320 on time for 4 hours + pick up....but hey they are used to these things and were there promptly.  I think this is an important issue when being picked up at an airport as the last thing you want after any flight is to hang about not knowing.

So her we are at the apartment and it's lovely we get the sun in the morning with our breakfast.  There is a good supermarket over the road that sells everything well priced for our needs.

We went to a bar late afternoon after checking into the apartment to see the sun go down with a gin and tonic, they are the same measures as in Burgos !!

Off for a Chinese meal Sunday night Only to to find that is was a bit bland but anyway quite good.

Monday - here we are
In the sands and the seas !".....quite warm although it's very windy.

Never mind we re going to the port up the road tonight a bar we used to know that just used to serve real Spanish food.

The food last night was lovely, I had a Dover sole and bill had a mixed fish platter with a lovely
sauce, it was every cheap and very good.

Going now to catch a bus to somewhere..

There is no wifi in the room, hence not blogging sooner.  I can only log on only in reception so I'm writing this on iPad notes and then copying and pasting later.  Today thee is no wind and apart from a
few clouds it is very hot.  I caught the sun yesterday so have put more crab fat on today to stop me
burning.  Bill as usual hasn't put on anything and is a red as a beet root !

I am aware that Stan Bennett arrives today but I don't expect to hear from him for a couple of days at least.

3 days to lift off

Well we are due to go to Lanzarote on Sunday and I haven't packed a thing. Tomorrow is the last working day and I'm having my hair done in the afternoon so it's all hands on deck in the morning, which means me doing the VAT return and processing paperwork so I have as little to come back to as possible.

The last time we went to Lanzarote was in 2003 when I was heavily into scuba diving, but I gave that up 3 years ago mainly due to my asthma problems and I'd actually got fed up with it.  Co-incidentally and without knowing beforehand I found out recently a musician friend Stan Bennett (an 82 year old famous south coast pianist) I've known for 30 years is also going to be there at the same time, he asked me if I was taking clarinet but my HB had a bit of a sense of humour failure and wants me to have some time off from music. I might hide the sections of the instruments in socks in the suitcase!!! Stan is famous for finding a piano not being used and then jamming with me on some songs but due to his age he has to have the dots with him, so it may be a struggle if I do take the instrument as i told him i wasnt taking it.  I'm undecided at the moment but it will affect the holiday if I do which is why I mention it.  Stan is not Bill 's favourite person !!  politics.

So our friend Mike is taking us to Bournemouth on Sunday for our flight at 1320 but cannot pick up up so have to arrange a pick up on the 10th March - luckily another friend has offered as we would usually ask our good friend Ray (deceased 17th January very suddenly).

Just giving the SP before we go :)
